Tragedy of HamletIn the story of Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, there are many different perceptions of what tragedy might be. In my opinion, the tragedy of Hamlet was the direct result of Claudius' foul play against the royal family of Denmark and his refusal to reveal his evil plot. From these acts a series of events could have been avoided with a simple act of confession. Claudius, King Hamlet's envious brother, seeks the royal advantages of life and plans to gain them by killing King Hamlet. Once Hamlet's death is complete, Claudius acquires the throne and wife that belonged to King Hamlet. The series of events that follow are all the result of Claudius' actions. A ghost showed up one dark and gloomy night, looking exactly like the late King Hamlet, telling the story of Claudius pouring poison into his ear while he slept causing him to die. This ghost told multiple courtiers and once told Hamlet about the murder and told Hamlet to take revenge for what Claudius had done. This knowledge created pain throughout the country, people began to wonder if it was true and tempers began to rage. Anger was growing in people over the illegal things that had happened. Beings that a man would be in enough pain to kill his own brother just to take over a kingdom is a truly terrible thing, it would take a messed up person to kill someone, much less his own brother. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were told to go and stay with Hamlet and try to figure out what is going on with Hamlet. They try to cheer Hamlet up by telling him that there is a group of actors who have arrived at the castle and that they will perform tonight. Hamlet decides that he will ask the actors to reenact his father's murder to see if it disturbs Claudius enough... halfway through the paper... the sword had been dipped in poison and they were both about to die. , blaming King Claudius for everything. Hamlet stabs the king and makes him drink the poisoned wine he had prepared for Hamlet. Hamlet ordered Horatio to stay alive and tell everyone the whole truth about what had happened. Furthermore, he told Horace to order Fortinbras, the Prince of Norway, to be the new king of Denmark. Claudius caused all kinds of problems and unnecessary deaths for the Kingdom of Denmark. Sometimes jealousy can take over a person's willpower and turn them into a monster. Once they decide they want to forgive and regret what they've done, it's too late to go back. Murdering a king is one thing, but murdering your brother is the worst. By not killing King Hamlet, and simply being the person he was created to be, he would have saved him and his kingdom from much death and pain..
