Dispute will always follow humans wherever we go. Humans have argued about many issues for centuries, often with no conclusion or “correct” answer in sight. A common question debated since the early 1900s is whether or not the wealthiest individuals in a society should be taxed more heavily than their poorer counterparts. Many have argued about the pros and cons of taxing the richest people, but when you look at it objectively, the pros far outweigh the cons. Not only do the pros outweigh the cons, but a question that needs to be asked is whether or not wealthy people really need that extra money? Richer people should be taxed higher because it's better for the economy, social classes will become more equal, and the rich owe it to the society that helped make them grow and succeed. One reason why the rich should pay higher taxes is that this makes social classes more even. In recent times, social classes have become increasingly distant. The rich have become richer and richer and the poor have become poorer. Raising taxes on the rich will help solve this problem as it will take some of that extra money and use it to improve social welfare. There were many different tax cuts in the 1920s. The first cuts began in 1922 and continued to occur throughout the 1920s (Crawford). By 1925, the government was encouraging a growing gap between the rich and everyone else because of tax cuts that benefited the rich. During this period, the richest 1% of the population increased their share of total income by 19% (Crawford). This hurts the middle and lower classes because that extra money has to come from somewhere, and it hits their pockets hard. The same thing happened not too long ago... middle of paper... people should be taxed higher because it helps the economy, it helps the social classes move closer together and because the rich owe it to the rich. company that helped them grow.
