Middle School. A time of both emotional and physical change, as students try to find their true identity. The last thing anyone would want to put on teenagers is more stress about fitting in. People want to express themselves through their clothes and Harvest Park's dress code prevents us from doing so. To find an identity, a teenager must be able to express himself. Ridiculous dress code rules are limiting this need. It is not strange that these rules were designed years ago and have not been adapted to modern style. But why? Why were these rules established? Behind the dress code lies the sexist motive. Apparently boys can't 'control' themselves, so girls are forced to hide from men's 'gazes'. Is it my fault if the guy behind me fails a test because his bra strap is showing or because I'm wearing a razor-style shirt? Or if you see a bit of bandage (a strapless bra cover designed to keep your bra from showing), no one is scared. Girls are taught that it's our fault if a boy is distracted...
