Topic > Effects of music on adolescent development - 886

It has long been known that music plays a fundamental role in people's lives, especially in the lives of adolescents. It has been found that music not only serves as entertainment but also helps regulate one's emotions and form a sense of identity. The need for emotional regulation and identity formation reaches its peak in adolescence; a period in which a large part of one's life is dedicated to music. Several studies have shown that due to the role of music in adolescents, it is important because it helps in the development of the adolescent's autonomy, which can lead to an increase in the adolescent's happiness. What a group of researchers from the University of Ottawa studied was the relationship between music and global happiness. Aware that music helps increase happiness, researchers at the University of Ottawa tried to find out if there is a connection between listening to music and a teenager's overall happiness. Overall happiness, also known as subjective well-being (SWB), is an assessment of one's quality of life. Areas considered in global happiness may consist of an individual's assessment of their personal, subjective and global quality of life. An individual's assessment of their subjective well-being can be altered by their personality, financial stability, and psychosocial prosperity. If you take into consideration the effects that music has on the lives of teenagers, there is a possibility that music also affects their overall overall happiness. To test the relationship between music and the world, scientists at the University of Ottawa conducted a study on a group of undergraduate students attending a Canadian university. After selecting the students and narrowing down the number of participants, res...... half of the paper .. ....D. The study did not take into account the number of female participants which makes the difference between the perspectives and emotions of men and women. The information collected for the study was self-reported by the participants, and there were no interviews or outside observers to study the subjects. While the study helped determine what the connection is between music and overall happiness, it is important to note that the study was not representative of the adolescent population in Canada or anywhere else in the world and therefore it would be wise to perform further studies.
