There were many different options to choose from for this essay and I chose to watch the play, The Chalk Circle of the Caucasus. It was a wonderful experience to see a show like this. There are many different aspects of a play that must work together to have a successful overall vision. Some main aspects that contribute to the overall perspective are; the quality of the acting, whether the plot is enjoyable, the way the characters present themselves and how the lighting ties into the atmosphere. To begin with, it seems to me that the quality of the actors plays a major role in the overall vision of a play. . I saw most of the plays performed in high school and always found the actors to be simply mediocre. When I decided to go to the Caucasus Chalk Circle play I expected the acting to be a step up from high school acting, but what I didn't expect was to be blown away by how well the actors sold the roles of their characters. The actors held my attention as if I were under a spell. You could see the passion in their eyes and even in their voice. They had to tell a joke and make me laugh hysterically, then the next moment I was completely still because of how serious the scene would be. One of the antagonists was an enemy soldier who was supposed to have the ability to joke around one moment and then the next make you shake in your seat because of how loud and obnoxious he was. This is the kind of acting that keeps the audience wanting and wondering what will happen next. Being able to captivate an audience using this type of acting is an art. They never seemed to miss a beat, or even hesitate about what they would say. They were always in control of what they represented. They used foul language... middle of paper... in the way they portrayed the environment. Without the work done on both the costumes and the lighting, the show would not have been as enjoyable as it was. Overall, I feel like I had an enjoyable artistic experience. There were many different factors that put the show together, but I think the most important were the quality of the acting, how fluid and entertaining the plot was, how well the costumes fit the characters, and how well the lighting was displayed. with the mood. I highly recommend you attend The Caucasian Chalk Circle show if you want to have an enjoyable artistic experience.
