Topic > The contrasting tasks of historians and scientists

The historian's task is to understand the past; the human scientist, on the contrary, is trying to change the future.” To what extent is this true in these areas of knowledge? Understanding and gaining knowledge of the past can be seen as a universal human need and the revelation of history has developed uniquely in civilizations around the world, historians are known to carry out this task of studying, researching and expressing these facts and concepts to satisfy the global human need to understand history. A historian can be thought of as a person who investigates past events and writes or compiles a chronological report based on his findings, but to my knowledge we can all be historians to some extent. To explore this topic I will use two ways of knowing which will be reason and emotion and my areas of knowledge will be drawn from history and the human sciences. Therefore to support my statement I will take an example from my life. Example: I know that my first day of nursery school was ........ at ...... of the year ....... but I don't know where I will live after 10 years. Both of these events are quite important issues in my life and this demonstrates the certainty of the past and the uncertainties of the future. Since I can't remember every detail of my early years, my knowledge of the first day of kindergarten came from my parents. I use reasoning and emotions which are my aforementioned ways of knowing to believe they are telling me the truth. Reasoning because I can count back the years from my current age to know what year I should have gone to kindergarten, and to determine the location I can recall my memory to find out which country I lived in when I was... years old. Emotions can be brought into...... middle of paper......historians, after having studied and investigated the past, have managed to discover the main causes of the Second World War and it is said that desire and ability of Hitler, who controlled Nazi Germany, to dominate Europe and gain control especially of the agricultural resources east of Germany was the main one. In my opinion, historians have studied the issue thoroughly to prevent similar tragedies from happening again. So, as a general conclusion, we can believe that without historians who understand and study the past and scientists who are not motivated to change the future, we humans would still be far behind in different areas of knowledge, but it's not just the scientists who are eager to change the future, historians are equally eager to change the future by having a better understanding of the past
