The way taxpayer money is already being spent does not cover enough of the needs of the American people. With funding for education and veterans among the lowest, and with the likelihood that space exploration will damage these superficial funds, the money must be used for ethical and humane sources, not for extraterrestrials. The way things are in the American economy is already unsatisfactory, and that leaves no room - money - for more rocket ships in space or for us to feel better about ourselves and potentially do "...well in space" (Source A ). National funding is scarce: education, training, employment, and social services all receive only four cents of every taxpayer dollar, while veterans' benefits and services receive only three cents (Source C). For the education fund, this leaves very little room for improvement within the public school system, leaving students with outdated textbooks, unhealthy school lunches, and even horrible, inadequate salaries for hard-working teachers and principals.
