I begin my report by first clarifying the term regulation; To put things in perspective, a definition is needed. The term 'Regulation': 'noun, rule or directive issued and maintained by an authority'. 1In my report I will try to explain how the profession works; Are audiologist or hearing aid dispensers regulated, the main rules in accordance with the legislation and how it affects you, as a student/applicant or practitioner/registrant. I will also briefly talk about the other "organisms" involved in Audiology and how they differ from each other. Firstly, in Great Britain, it is the HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council), which is currently responsible for 16 independent professions including Audiologists/Audiologists. Hearing aid dispensers and many more. HCPC regulation ensures that standards are set, enabling an efficient healthcare service that meets the requirements set by the HCPC. The HCPC also sets standards of conduct, performance and ethics. This is done by maintaining the health, wellbeing and safety of patients, approving standards and gaining the necessary public trust in relation to Audiology and those who use health and care professionals. To achieve this benchmark, a number of rules have been implemented and are standard procedures specified by the HCPC for all health and care professionals. To work under a protected title you need to register with the HCPC. Many checks are carried out ensuring that the individual has met the specified standards: Character: Applicant/Student: Each applicant's character must be checked, this ensures that the applicant is able to work safely and efficiently.
