Jennifer Cisneros CardenasVaschéExpo. for May 213, 2016Racial ProfilingRacial profiling has been a big problem in the United States for thousands of years. It is an idea or concept that targets minorities based on their skin color or appearance. It is used in various ways, two of which are: medicine and law enforcement. Our criminal justice system is racially profiled, corrupt and racist. Racial profiling is occasionally denied by law enforcement authorities. In a Los Angeles Times article titled "California's racial profiling law is 'terrible' legislation, police officials say" there is a quote from Long Beach Police President Lt. Steve James stating ; “There is no racial profiling. It simply isn't there. There is criminal profiling." Some believe there is no way to prove that racial profiling was the cause of someone's questioning unless the officer admits it. In a Washington Post Reddit Hudson article, a former police officer talks about his experiences of racial profiling through the perspective of a police officer. He accompanied an officer on a call to the house, a teenager answered the door and was immediately accused of harboring a robbery suspect. When the boy denied having let the officer in, he was pulled, punched and slammed. When Hudson arrived at the department and complained to the sergeant, he was told to go back to work. Racial profiling cannot be denied, it is a problem that needs to be solved. On the other hand the Manhattan Institute wrote an article titled; “What appears to be racial profiling may simply be good policing.” An officer's decision to ask someone to step out of a vehicle... is believed to be at the heart of the paper... Matt Hamilton. “California's racial profiling law is 'terrible' legislation, police officers say.” Los Angeles Times October 4, 2015Dutta, Sunil. “Criminal profiling vs. racial profiling".
