Since the world of humans began, the way we interact and communicate with each other has grown tremendously. People started communicating by speaking in person, then through letters, and now through a smartphone. Social media is an important part of today's society. Websites and apps like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter allow family, friends and businesses to communicate with each other from around the world. Companies use these websites to promote sales, send coupons, and also to keep up with what people are saying about their product. Fancois Gossieaux said: “Social media allows us to behave in ways we are programmed to do in the first place – as human beings. We can get honest advice from other human beings instead of faceless companies.” Not only can you use social media sites to ask family and friends about products; you can also reach people in different states or even countries about what they might think about that product. Articles by Michael Juregens, The Artice written by UWire and the essay YouTube verse Boobtube, all three talk about how social media is influencing today's society. Social media has influenced businesses by increasing communication between consumers, negatively impacting businesses with the “next big thing” and even how they advertise. Social media allows humans to connect and communicate from all over the world. In commercials, some companies use actors to play real customers. If a consumer hears an actor say they love a product and how it made them happy, they are likely to want to go out and buy it. People are now realizing that they don't just have to listen to those actors, their friends or their family. They have the opportunity to post something on Facebook or Twitter to people all over the world...... middle of paper......a woman might search for a makeup tutorial and an ad for eyeshadow appears and at the suddenly a woman now buys that eyeshadow because she saw the advertisement on Youtube. Social media has changed the way the world communicates and spends money. Society has come a long way in how they communicate with each other. From the pony express to those annoying group messages, the incredible connection between people expands everywhere. The way consumers communicate about companies and products has changed dramatically. Social media has influenced businesses by increasing communication between consumers, negatively impacting businesses with the “next big thing” and even how they advertise. Social media may have more positive effects now, but it could also end up destroying businesses and societies. Sometimes too much of a good thing is a terrible thing.
