In 2012, French President François Hollande proposed banning homework in French schools. To support this, a Year 12 student and a member of the student representative council of Gardendale Secondary College prepared a speech. Addressed to the educators at her school, the student makes some directive comments and convincing facts to turn the heads of principles, teachers, parents and fellow students against assigning and completing homework. Starting his speech with rhetorical questions causes in-depth reflection in the minds of the listener. Strong statements linking homework to serious illness and then death cause concern. Even if they have to convince teachers, stressful statements about children's health would have a greater effect on students' parents, who do not like to think that their children are "stressed and nervous" due to excessive and unnecessary work.
