Germany is one of the strongest economies in the whole of Europe. A brief history and general state of this country will be explained by providing examples and demographics. Along with my understanding of the information, I will try to help you understand the importance of the overall macroeconomic position of this country which contributes to the wealth of the European Union today. The barbarian Celts are believed to have been the first settlers of the Germanic lands before the tribe of the second century BC. German barbarian attacks on declining Roman infrastructure added to the destruction of the Roman Empire in 400 and 500 AD. The Holy Roman Emperor, Charlemagne, was crowned after achieving supremacy in Western Europe in 800 AD. Magnus was derived from one of the tribes known as the Franks, originating in what is now Germany. For many years following the reign of Otto the Great, many leaders of Germany held high command positions in the Holy Roman Empire, this lasting for several centuries. (Education) The Holy Roman Empire would have spread freely around the 14th century. The long line of Habsburgs ruled the Holy Roman Empire until its fall in 1806. A dispute brought internal war for Germany in 1618 and lasted for 30 years until 1648. This war left Germany divided into hundreds of principalities that survived independently . without the Emperor. In a short time Prussia achieved impressive strength. Frederick the Great organized the Prussian army and defeated the Austrians. The power struggle between the Austrians and Prussians continued and ended with the defeat of Austria in 1866. (Education) After the defeat, Pru...... middle of paper ...... and resilient full of economic prosperity . Geography, demographics and politics have shaped this country into what it is today. From a macroeconomic point of view, Germany has outperformed all its neighbors. Many other countries are expected to implement the policies adopted by Germany.
