The book Silent Spring was written by Rachel Carson. Carson was a teacher who also conducted research. This book is well written and shows Carson's professionalism and effort to educate people on the topic of pesticides. One of his major research impacts was when he studied pesticides and their effects on the environment. This book is based on the conflict of chemical poisons that attack parts of the Earth such as water and its creatures that inhabit it. The title Silent Spring comes from the idea that everything on Earth works together. This includes all elements on Earth and even humans. Since everyone is able to get along, everyone can equally enjoy the natural sounds that come from beautiful spring days as all the plants and animals grow and get along. The protagonist is identified throughout the book as the Earth and everything associated with it, which is being attacked by the poisonous chemicals. These chemicals can observe and control surrounding insect populations, making them more dangerous. The antagonist is poisons. These poisons are used as insecticides. These chemicals are used in the United States and the manufacturers of the product have no concerns about the health and safety of people and other factors that may come into contact with the insect poisons. The main reason Carson wrote a book like this is to push the point of people becoming more conservative and caring about the environment. This was written in an effort to push for a movement of more conservative environmental practices. From reading this book we know that Carson is concerned about all the effects these pesticides have. The main point of this book is that through caring... middle of paper... people care. Conclusion: When pesticides are discussed in this book, it is clear that they are harmful to the environment. the environment and humanity if not used correctly. Carson describes the importance of this problem and pushes for improvements in the system. It offers multiple solutions to protect people and animals and at the same time eliminate insects that have become annoying. As a writer and researcher, Carson is passionate and determined to discover new ways to solve the problem at hand. Unlike the rest of the people in the book, Carson takes the most polite and logical approach to prove his point that what they have chosen as a solution is non-affective and actually more destructive to the environment. He does his own research which shows that pesticides are having negative effects on many aspects of nature. Works Cited Silent Spring
