Topic > The Chinese immigration experience - 1280

The Chinese immigration experience went through periods of difficulty, under the leadership of the English man. They have struggled to keep themselves alive through racism, work and acceptance. Although many have come to Canada for their lives and the lives of their children to be successful and safe. It could not be given until adversity had given them the life they hoped to one day live. By early 1858, the Chinese community had begun to come to different parts of Canada considering the push and pull factors that brought them here. Due to the lack of workers in the British Columbia region, the Chinese were able to find work in gold mining. Most Chinese were told to build roads, clear areas and build highways, but were paid little due to racism. Chinese today are considered one of the most successful races in Canada due to the push and pull factors they encountered, the racism that rejected them, and the community of Chinese at the time. The immigration history of the Chinese had forced them to earn a living or work for what they wanted to become famous for one day. Before the arrival of the Chinese in Canada, there had been problems at home. At the time most European countries went to China to sell goods, when they suddenly lost to Britain in the Opium War from 1842 to 1860. This had forced China to open ports to trade in Europe. This devastating problem created problems for the Chinese community knowing that Europeans would invade. After the Chinese surrender to Brittan occurred, they were told to pay a huge tax. The payment had affected China's annual treasury draw, which was ultimately paid for through higher taxes on citizens. Since...... middle of paper... they deserved and the education they had hoped the generation of boys would receive. After working on railroads, gold mines, construction and fishing, they realized this was home. Chinese people are active in local communities and respond to Canada's policies. They gave themselves a name that would be remembered and appreciated. The fight against racism and discrimination made them stronger knowing that if they did not stand up to this nation every Chinese Canadian citizen would fall. Seeing their community today, shows passion and love for their culture and morals. Chinese-Canadian immigrants are considered to be one of the most successful immigrants to date: they obtained the highest grades, more jobs given to Chinese, culture-oriented, and those who suffered through Canada to earn their place..
