Topic > The importance of being myself - 1051

I worked as a football referee, usually for players aged eight to fourteen. To become a referee I had to attend a clinic for eight hours and learn all the rules, ins and outs. Once the eight-hour class was over, I had to pass a test to get my license, and I did. My father would take me to the courts where I would umpire, usually in Lodi, Wadsworth or Medina. I worked mostly on Sundays with the occasional game on weekdays, making forty to fifty dollars a game. Most of the money went into my pocket, but some went to my father to pay for the course fees, the uniform I had to buy, and occasionally buy him an ice cream for his time. With the money I could earn from my new job, I could freely spend my money on the things I wanted instead of asking my parents for money. I could go out with friends more often and buy more things for myself because I had more money to do so
