According to Martin N. Marger (Race & Historical Relations, Martin N. Marger, 1991) discrimination, stereotypes and prejudice can all be narrowly defined in a similar. Discrimination in racial and ethnic relations is defined as “negative actions against a group, designed to deny its members equal access to social rewards” and prejudice is defined as “a generalized belief, usually inflexible or unfavorable, applied to members of a particular group". Both of these terms refer to aspects of a particular group and stereotypes are more individual and are primarily a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. During the interview it was discovered that both women had very different definitions of discrimination and being stereotyped by strangers and peers. Rima stated that she had never experienced discrimination and further explained that “indirectly and in such a subtle way that I could never define it or prove it. In some cases I wouldn't even call it discrimination. I think people who are the same naturally gravitate towards each other and if you're not part of the group then you're on the outside. Thankfully I never had to meet Race in the face
