The book of Luke is said to have been written somewhere around 60 AD, the book was written to tell the story of Jesus' life (Fairchild M. 2014). Luke was a historian and a physician, we learned this through (Colossians 4:14) (Fairchild M. 2014). He was very specific and used a lot of detail when he wrote the Gospel of Luke; he recorded the events and their dates very precisely. Luke is said to have done a lot of research and talked to the disciples and other eyewitnesses about the life of Christ (Fairchild M. 2014). The only known author of the Gospel of Luke was Luke himself, Luke was of Greek heritage and we know that he was the only Gentile Christian author of the New Testament (Fairchild M. 2014). Luke was very cultured for his time and we can tell this from how he wrote the Gospel of Luke. The Gospel of Luke tells us the story of Jesus' life, the man he was, and how he offered the perfect sacrifice for sin.
