As William James once stated, "The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another." Today, many college students believe that stress is inevitable and is considered second nature; therefore, for students to be successful in their academic journey, they must experience stress. On the other hand, there is a belief that stress is harmful and affects physical and mental health; However, according to Dr. Kelly McGonigal, a person's belief or perspective on stress has less to do with their stress levels as they relate to death. In this case, he cites a study that found that people who believed that stress was harmful to their health had a greater risk of dying, while people who considered stress to be harmless had no greater risk of dying. As a solution to address this problem that almost all students experience, I propose that practicing social networking and connecting socially with peers and students who share the same goal will be the best solution for students to cope with and reduce high levels of stress. I Believe that the first reason why social networks should be the best solution that college students turn to to deal with this stress problem is the fact that their proponents provide sufficient evidence on how effective social networks deal with this stress problem. For example, there is the academic journal "Exploring Facets Of A Social Network To Explicate The Status Of Social Support And Its Effects On Stress" from Lin Chia's International Journal, Social Behavior & Personality, which presents the results of his research concludes that students who have more social interaction and support from other peer students experience less stress in the middle of the paper, so I have to admit that the statement that online social networking tools help distract students by creating diversions is true However , the actual purpose of social networking is not the problem here. The problems are the methods and ways students use to build their social networks and receive moral support. Although our current generation and society are highly dependent on technology, I believe that any individual willing to actually benefit from the moral support provided by social networks would choose to network instead of falling for these distractions. Therefore, I think students who care about their health and grades should use social networks to communicate and share files with their peers; they should avoid the distraction that these social media sites have to offer at all costs.
