"A STUDY ON TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT IN THIRU AROORAN SUGARS PRIVATE LIMTED, THIRUMANDANGUDI"INTRODUCTION:Training is the systematic development of the knowledge, skills and attitudes required by a individual to adequately carry out a specific task or job. Training can involve learning of various types and in various situations, for example on the job, outside of the job, in the company or outside the company. It may involve the use of many techniques such as demonstrations, exercises, guided readings, lectures, discussions, case studies, role plays, assignments, projects, group exercises, planned learning, seminars, workshops, games, quizzes etc. These techniques can be implemented by many people, especially by corporate trainers, managers, supervisors, colleagues or external trainers and educators. According to Flippo, “training is the act of increasing an employee's knowledge and skills to perform a particular job.” Training involves the development of skills usually necessary to carry out a specific job. Its aim is to achieve a change in the behavior of the people trained and to enable them to do their jobs better. Training makes newly hired employees fully productive in less time. Training is equally necessary for old employees whenever new machines and equipment are introduced and/or there is a change in the techniques of doing things.
