During the 1800s there were numerous military advances in weapons and transportation in the United States. Starting with weapons in the early United States, from about 1786 to 1833, they had the Pattern 1795 musket as their primary weapon; which must therefore be used during the War of 1812 and also in the expeditions of Lewis and Clark. Approximately 80,000 of these weapons were built during the period they were in use. The Model 1795 musket also had an effective range of around 50-200 yards and was better than the British equivalent Brown Bess which had a range of 50-100 yards. Eventually the United States began producing more new weapons in 1833-50 as they created an American Pattern 1842 musket. This was the first gun made in the United States with interchangeable parts at both Harpers Ferry and the Springfield Armory. During this time approximately 275,000 of these muskets were produced. Another weapon that the United States had made its own version of were cannons. The cannon was first used in 1861 at Fort Sumter during the American Civil War. This was a major weapons upgrade as they could help clear out large crowds of men and help men from having to be on the front lines and risk being killed. Battles also seemed to get faster due to his strength, but it also had some downsides. These negative aspects included very serious injuries to the men, even more men would be killed in battle, and eventually many cities were destroyed because of this. Now, from the point of view of military transport, there were no transport trucks or helicopters yet, but what the military For transportation used trains invented in 1822 by George Stephenson. Other means of transportation included ships which were invented in the late 18th century and horses were also an average or... middle of paper... or advances in military transportation the United States probably would not have been as strong as it is now .Bibliography- Brown Bess.
