The days of hard work and discipline are long gone; replaced by decadent morals and non-existent parenting. If this contagion at national continues to develop, the result will be a country unable to support itself, govern itself, or defend itself. The solution is obvious: military service. Mandatory military service in the United States for a period of 18 years would have numerous benefits , as well as alleviating many problems plaguing America. Mandatory military service offers a second chance to high school dropouts. StatisticBrain.com reports that 90% of jobs in the United States are not available to high school dropouts dropouts will most likely end up on the streets, causing chaos and harm among law-abiding citizens. 75% of US crimes were committed by high school dropouts (“High School” 1). The simple fact is that dropping out of high school is a detriment to society. Another problem that can be solved with military service is the general chaos facing American youth. Have a conversation with an older person and the discussion will quickly become a lecture about how America will go up in smoke and how today's youth are rotten punks. These older members of society are known as the Baby Boomer generation. All Baby Boomers were born after World War II, and most of their fathers had fought an evil hell bent on crushing the nation they loved. The sons of these warriors were regularly disciplined by belt or exchange, and mistakes were rarely made twice.
