This statement applies to absolutely every soldier who fought at the Battle of Gettysburg. Both Union and Confederate soldiers were symbolically murderous angels, people who fought for what they believed was right, even if it meant killing other soldiers. The people fighting were citizens of the same nation, sometimes brother against brother. Tom Chamberlain and Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain were exceptions. Both of these brothers fought in the Union Army. Sometimes soldiers fought against people with whom they were previously friends. Ultimately, the war pitted the two parts of the nation against each other. This has led to the mass destruction and killing of our nation's population. Each soldier was a killer angel in his own way, fighting and carrying out one of the bloodiest battles of the war. Using the title of the book to say that the soldiers are murderous "angels" is an excellent description. They were people fighting for a cause, which was not always understood by some.
