Topic > In a State of Sin - 1020

These above-mentioned verses deal with three different conditions of an individual's unregenerate state before receiving salvation; one, lying to themselves that they are sinless while they are still sinners. The second is acknowledging their sins until repentance and the third is denying the fact that they have sinned when they know they have sinned. It is a statement in which their status can be perceived. Let me explain in more detail, verse 8 reveals, the mental disposition of one who is currently in a state of sin, while in a state of denial. Just as they deceive themselves by living a lie, or a state of illusion. For this reason they are devoid of truth, thus confirming their unsaved state. Verse 9 reveals the state of someone who openly acknowledges and confesses his sinful state. By doing so, Jesus Christ will forgive them and cleanse them from all their injustice. The word purify in Greek is katharizo, pronounced ka th-ar-id'-zo; which means to make clean, eliminate or purify. According to this definition, the Lord will cleanse, purify and cleanse a person from all injustice, making him free from any sin committed. It is important to note that it is not possible to simultaneously be pure or cleansed of injustice and be impure or also unjust. You must either be completely cleansed and pure from all sin or completely submerged in the filth of your sins. Jesus never cleansed anyone from sin halfway, because He is completely thorough in cleansing. The work of salvation through Jesus Christ is perfect and complete in delivering the souls of those lost in sin. The careful procedure of salvation extended to mankind was made evident when Jesus died and rose from the dead. Verse 10 deals with the mind… middle of the paper… epistle. What does “YOU SHALL NOT SIN” mean? What the Scripture says here in verse 1 is that if for any reason you should fall into sin, due to lack of consecration and vigilance you are not obligated to remain in the state of sin. God will grant you through His mercy another opportunity to be redeemed through the blood of Jesus Christ, to remove your sins. Jesus is the advocate of those who fall into the temptation of the flesh and sin. The word advocate in the Greek parakletos, pronounced par-ak'-lay-tos, means intercessor, counselor: comforter. Jesus Christ is represented as the mediator who counsels you for strength, showing you the way back to God. Once you return to the Father, He will comfort and protect you, only if you let Him. The Lord will never comfort you in the state of your sins, because He finds no pleasure in your sin.
