In the Belly of Drones: From War to Home Unmanned aircraft have proven their prowess against al Qaeda. Now they are ready to take off on the domestic front. In past years, we have heard about drones, one of these feared machines, in the media because they embodied human characteristics, such as intelligence, especially autonomy and decision-making, and wiped out enemy combatants, even civilians, in war. We began to fear them, seriously. Amazon Prime Air and the Netflix parody But why is the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ready to completely open American airspace to drones by 2015 (Horgan)? In late 2013, on “60 Minutes,” Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos posted an instantly viral one-minute video of the futuristic, commercial miniature delivery drone Prime Air. Amazon's proposition has captured the hearts of Forbes financial tycoons and tech-savvy consumers, with Prime Air's revolutionary 30-minute order delivery process, its promise to make science fiction a reality (Amazon). So, benevolent, non-militaristic drones like Prime Air are the answer. With the FAA's decision in 2015, Amazon says, Prime Air will be ready to serve its vast online marketplace (Amazon).
