Linguistics is the study of understanding the meaning of language. As linguist is different from the traditional ways of understanding the language such as knowing the grammar and rules of the language. It is very important because language is widely used in human daily life. So language has become part of the human being, their use is an integral part. Linguists study the structures, rules and common aspects of each language. When it is said that the linguist is very different from the old ways of understanding language, the linguist is descriptive and not prescriptive as was the case in the past. To become a teacher, an English teacher, it is important to understand the role of linguists and become a linguist. In order to teach English better, a teacher should understand the language better than anyone else. The main point in learning linguistics that focuses on speech and language is to understand what language is; discuss and analyze the components of language; investigate the process and sequence of speech and language development; examine the relationships between language and children's development, particularly cognitive, social and emotional development; and finally discuss issues related to learning in the school context, particularly in relation to teaching, curriculum and literacy. To understand human beings and the way they communicate, it is necessary to know the meaning of the tool used to communicate. The tool used is called language. So knowing the definition is useless. Language is an organized system of arbitrary signals and rule-governed structures. It is a means of communication. Language can also be defined in several ways, for example, language is said to be an ability that separates humans from animals such as s...... middle of paper ...... ote the behavior of students in the teaching process, passive or reactive. The teacher's purpose should not be limited to providing knowledge, but to share and expand knowledge together with the student. Language is important to be learned by everyone because it is a mass of communication between human beings. Language learning should start at the early stage of children because children are easier to acquire than adults. Parents should focus and develop their children's language acquisition so that they can acquire the language easily when learning in school. Through language, children will be able to come into contact with other people and this will help them have experiences that can be useful in their lives. When they connect with people through language, children's living and social skills can also be improved. This is why language plays an important role in children's development.
