In today's modern society there are many theories that people have come up with to explain the way an individual acts, thinks and does. According to the point of view of psychologists there are many reasons why an individual acts in a certain way (Coon & Mitterer, 2012. Pages 14-55). All of these theories have been tested and observed and it is a personal choice to believe them or not depending on your research and personal opinions. You can do this through a case study of an individual and see which theories apply to the individual's actions. This is where Tumi's case study (Basic Perspectives in Psychology 2014, 2014. Page 6) is relevant. In this essay we will examine how socioculture, behaviorism, psychoanalysis, and humanism can explain the way Tumi acts and why he feels “like he is going crazy” (Basic Perspectives in Psychology 2014, 2014. Page 6).Tumi is a 20-year-old student who has trouble sleeping and distinguishing what is real from what is not (Basic Perspectives in Psychology 2014, 2014. Page 6). He has been through a lot of personal trauma recently and you can use those experiences to explain the way he behaves and feels now. Tumi has consulted a counselor because she feels she is not behaving normally and is not comfortable in her current emotional state. She reported having some strange experiences before the appointment. These things include religious involvements, amplified anxiety, and she has also started to believe that her mother and sisters are conspiring against her. Tumi also recalled seeing her deceased grandmother walking around the kitchen at her mother's house, (Basic Perspectives in Psychology 2014, 2014. Page 6), she also had recurring... middle of paper... .h subjects to be taken for the postgraduate program at his collage. Tumi's personal choices can also be seen as influencing her experiences and her potential to do things and overcome current situations and misfortunes. However it can be seen that Tumi has self-realization and has made her own choices where possible which have influenced some of her experiences as mentioned above. All of the theories mentioned helped explain Tumi's experiences and how she responded to them. Thanks to these observations you can see the cause of the way Tumi feels and explain to her the reasons why she has all these abnormal visions and experiences. Tumi can clearly be seen to have one through many traumas and there are clear explanations through careful consideration of socioculture, behaviorism, psychoanalysis and humanism.
