Biotechnology is defined as the intent to fix our environment by extracting cures for diseases and controlling our destiny in an effort to improve the human condition. Hoping to discover everything there is to know about ourselves and the planet we occupy. By applying the tools of modern biology, whether molecular biology, chemistry, genomics or genetics, we understand the biological phenomenon at a new level. In 2005, the billionth biotech acre was planted. This is a remarkable milestone in the field of biotechnology that will help advance our discoveries into the future of this science as it continues to evolve and of Earth as the only place we know where true life lives. Many of biotechnology's successes are based on lessons learned from mistakes (Hodgson, 2006). The places we are reaching now were impossible just a generation ago. Every industry has its flaws, and biotechnology is no exception. “From the appointment of the wrong executives to the poorly worded legal document, most biotech companies are riddled with daily mistakes, the kind of mistakes that could happen to anyone and that are readily and quickly correctable, almost before anyone finds out” (Hodgson , 2006 ). However, biotech industry leaders are still as wildly optimistic as they have been throughout history. These dreams begin with inspiration and blossom with determination and courage. Throughout the history of biotechnology there have been so many wonderful achievements. There are currently more than three hundred biotechnology pharmaceutical products and vaccines in clinical trials that target more than two hundred different diseases including Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, and AIDS (Smith, 2005). Biotechnology is solely responsible for h...... half of the paper ...... participate so that some aspects are not discontinued due to lack of interest. Biomedical research has enabled childcare and pre-school programs along with numerous other workplaces and academic institutions to be much more knowledgeable in identifying their preferred emergency response system (Department of Health, 2006b). This preparation not only addresses bioterrorist attacks, but can promote a healthier atmosphere with less absenteeism overall. Every day the vast majority of Americans come into contact with countless people who may or may not be sick. Diseases are easily transmitted from person to person throughout the world very quickly. Many of the resources and information offered by the Department of Health and its available publications “can also help in other types of emergencies” such as natural disasters. (Department of Health, 2006b).
