Kymlicka lists three main arguments that Marxists use for the abolition of private property. They are exploitation, need and alienation, the latter seems to be the strongest. Exploitation is a reasonable enough argument, although there are many valid and valid criticisms and also there appears to be a loophole. If private property were leveled and not completely eradicated as the Marxist would like, then it would seem that exploitation could be avoided. However, this equalization still does not address the problem of alienation. There are three main aspects to the Marxist idea of alienation. The first is the worker's alienation from the product of his work, the second is the worker's alienation from the act of producing and finally the worker's alienation from his “species-essence”. Marx, and later Marxists, believed that the worker is alienated from the product of his labor because of the disproportionate gain that the capitalist derives from the product compared to the worker. The worker has no input into the design of the product, nor does he have any control over how it is produced. Both the manual worker – for example an assembly line worker, and the intellectual worker – for example an engineer, are controlled by the capitalist and are alienated from the final product of their labor. Labor undergoes commodification at the hands of the capitalist for profit maximization. From this aspect of alienation, along with the other two, Marxists derive the idea of alienated labor. The second aspect of alienation is that of the worker from the act of producing. The worker is offered little psychological satisfaction when generating products that are made with an endless sequence of disk... middle of paper... before reformulating civilization at the beginning of time, would be the theory I would propose I enacted if I were responsible. A violent revolution of the proletariat might have been able to make a Marxist or communist society viable before the industrial revolution, but with that era come and gone, and now in the midst of the technological age, the original formulation of Marxism simply will not work. , especially with the stigma attached to it due to the mutations of Marx's theory implemented in Soviet Russia, Maoist China and Castro's Cuba. There are some formulations that are worth considering, postcolonial Marxism and Marxist feminism, but unfortunately they are not taken seriously.
