Since Megan was not gaining weight, she continued to gain height and was still meeting her developmental milestones. The doctor became even more worried about Megan when she showed up for her sixteen-month checkup and had only gained a few pounds. Megan should have weighed about twelve pounds, but she weighed eighteen pounds and was still only in the zero percentile for her age and weight. That's when the doctor recommended that Christine take Megan to the partial Pedi program at Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence. The Pedi Partial Program is an intensive program that addresses the needs of children under the age of eighteen and offers them comprehensive services to meet their needs. Megan started therapy with the nutrition team right away, going once or twice a month. At 18 months, the feeding team that evaluated Megan diagnosed her with stunted growth because her weight was in the zero percentile and was below the ideal weight for her height. Megan began biweekly therapy sessions with her feeding team, where they encouraged her to try new and previously introduced foods with positive reinforcements such as playing games, giving stickers, and having some of her favorite foods available.
