San Diego is home to many hard-working people who work diligently during the week and want to spend their days off visiting the many attractions the city has to offer. Whether commuting to work or heading to Balboa Park for a family outing, San Diegans know that MTS is there to ensure they get to their destination in a convenient and timely manner. As the second largest city in California, San Diego is vulnerable to frustrating rush hour traffic, but people are slowly recognizing MTS's efforts to alleviate this problem and ensure they not only get to their destination on time, but do so in efficient manner; cost is not an issue and the routes are well planned in an attempt to avoid traffic. People often think badly of public transport; MTS has become an exception as it has invested in creating a positive experience for both San Diegans who use the transit system daily and those who only take a bus once. Since my freshman year of high school, I have met peers who rely on public transportation to get to school every day because the school bus system does not serve their neighborhood. They were students who were eager to come to school every day and relied on MTS to transport them to school on time every day. Likewise, my mother relies on MTS to get me to work on time every morning and home every afternoon. Both students and adults had little to no problems with the transportation system; if there were any issues, MTS was able to adjust their schedules or routes to serve the community. A friend who just recently started relying on public transportation to get to school told me about the interesting experiences she had during her time using public transportation...... middle of paper... ...t the rising price of petrol and the ridiculous cost of decent insurance. Then I took both buses and trams when someone took the family car to work and I needed to take care of my own interests; I've noticed that most people feel uncomfortable being around so many people, but when a passenger needs help, conversation emerges and a new connection is made. I am generally a shy person, however I feel that public transport has helped me strengthen my communication skills. I'm just an MTS customer; the difference it can make on all San Diegans can be enormous. People underestimate public transport as it has a negative connotation; MTS is an exception because it has invested in ensuring that young, old, adults and disabled people all have the same opportunity to rely on a clean, efficient and friendly way to transport their citizens where they need to be.
