Literature and all the ways it can be read, analyzed and interpreted is so interesting. Stories and books can be looked at from different perspectives, which makes each of them unique. I chose to write about the Ugly Duckling because it has long been one of my favorite fairy tales, "The Ugly Duckling" is a story about the life of Hans Christian Andersen. The way he structured the action and draws parallels between the ugly duckling in the adventure and how he himself may have felt during life's challenges. From the beginning of the adventure, when the last and largest egg hatches, to the end of the story when the "duckling" finds himself surprisingly accepted by all the animals. We can identify the story of the duckling with the experiences Andersen himself had throughout his life. My problem then is: how is Andersen's life reflected in the fairy tale? Hans Christian Andersen, born into a poor family, grew up constantly bullied by others due to his tall body structure. At a young age he moved to Copenhagen from Odense to begin his acting career. Throughout his career, he faced many challenges that led to him being rejected by the theater, just as the ugly duckling was rejected by the duck group because of his appearance. It is clear that many events and challenges that the author created for the little duckling reflected these difficult times in his life. He faced much ridicule due to his awkward appearance and had to survive on his own as he struggled to ignore the rejection he faced. received so often. In the fairy tale, the cat played the role of people in Andersen's life. The character was negative towards everything the duckling tried to say by contradicting him. The cat thought that the duckling was ...... middle of paper ...... from his friends Hermione and Ronny, and he is very grateful to them because he had never had friends before. It is very similar to how the ugly duckling discovers that he is not an ugly duckling but a beautiful swan who is greeted with open wings by the other swan. Both stories show themes of prejudice. Both the duckling and Harry are looked down upon by their families due to traits they cannot control, this is the theme of prejudice. Furthermore, both the duckling and Harry are followed by us, the reader follows them through their journey and their struggle. They both start with their life from the bottom, until they reach a point in their life where everyone admires them and they are praised for how good they really are. The answer to the problem is throughout the text. The way he wrote the fairy tale and all the scenarios the little duckling goes through can describe Andersen's life well..
