I noticed that he was constantly switching between synthesizer and keyboard, and this was to change the melody and make it sound layered as I said before. I also noticed that sometimes he would play the keyboard slowly and other times he would play extremely fast. So quickly that I even wondered how a man could not only move his arms so fast but also play so beautifully at such high speeds. A melody playing even sounded like rustling, and I was amazed at how a synthesizer and keyboard can produce such sounds. I also noticed that for this song both Lionel Loueke and Dave Holland played guitar, and I think this was to fit the fusion electric instrument style. Overall, the entire band made a great opening for their performance; it seemed like everyone was doing their own thing and were very happy. The next song played was "River", originally by Joni Mitchell. This song featured the beautiful singers Sonya Kitchell and Amy Keys. “River” took a very different approach and was much mellower than the first, definitely not in the jazz fusion genre. While jazz fusion is my favorite, I have to say that Herbie Hancock originally started with classical music and, as I said before, wasn't introduced to fusion until he joined Miles' band.
