In Pablo Neruda's love poems, "Body of a Woman" and "Sonnet 89" the theme concerns a woman whom Neruda loved. This essay will analyze how Neruda uses images and metaphors, among other things, to reflect on how much Neruda has matured over time. He was only nineteen years old collection of poems entitled "Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair". These poems are presentations of Neruda's personal experience as a lover. The poems were inspired by his relationships with two women during his student years was rejected by the main Chilean publisher due to its sexual nature. In contrast, "Sonnet 89" was written when he was forty-six years old. It is part of another collection of poems called '100 love sonnets' a demonstration of his affection towards his wife, Mathilde Urrutia. The title "Woman's Body" itself is an example of imagery. Neruda could be talking about describing a woman's body in a literal sense or about Chile, the country to which he demonstrated his loyalty and allegiance. ...
