Topic > The Influence of Video Games on Children - 766

I remember growing up, my sister and I would go outside to ride our bikes, play basketball, skate, play hide and seek, and wander around our neighborhood. We just had fun and enjoyed doing mostly physical activities that got us into exercise without us even knowing it. However, today I no longer see children having fun like that or even doing physical activity. I believe the cause of this decrease in physical activity among children has to do with today's video games. Video games have become an important part of children's lives. It all started when Atari invented its first game console, which included a very simple tennis game. The controller only had one stick and one button to play with. There are many different types of consoles available on the market today with very complex games that require controllers with two or more sticks and a variety of buttons. I believe that playing video games can have both positive and negative effects on children. According to the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, "some of these effects include an increase in hand-eye coordination and an increase in mental dexterity skills, but a decrease in interest in other activities such as studying and sports, and a very negative in inducing violence". argue that video games are simply not good because they prevent children from engaging in physical activity which can be harmful to young people's health, but regardless, video games can have a positive effect on children. One of the most positive effects of video games is increasing a child's dexterity and improving their hand-eye coordination. Today's video games and consoles that are released are very complex and involve the movement of several... half of the paper... me and end up believing that everything is fine. Research is still ongoing on this negative effect and it has not yet been fully proven or disproven. We find that playing video games can have various effects on children, both positive and negative. Many people argue whether the positive effects of children playing video games outweigh the negative effects. While children may benefit from increasing their dexterity and improving their reflexes, the cost of losing exercise and homework, as well as their susceptibility to violent acts, is far too great. It is important for parents and educators to take this issue seriously and adopt some rules and regulations that allow children to divide their time responsibly between playing video games, participating in physical exercise, and their other responsibilities..
