Johannes Brahms was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1833. He began playing the piano at a young age and aspired to become a composer. And not only did he achieve his goal, but he was extremely successful. Even today he is one of the most famous classical composers of all time, even though he published only a few of his works during his lifetime and burned the rest. How did this strangely demanding musician become so popular? How is his music? What inspired your compositions? Brahms was the second child of a family consisting of father, mother and two brothers. His father played double bass in the civic orchestra, and when Brahms was seven years old he began to teach him the basics of music on the piano. It soon became apparent that Brahms was a prodigy, so they entrusted him to two teachers, Friedrich Cossel and later Eduard Marxen, who taught the poor boy without pay. At the age of thirteen, Brahms began playing in the taverns and restaurants of his hometown to help support his family.
