In today's society there are generally standards of support for a sex that their respective counterparts are not required to uphold. Why is it considered acceptable for men to have sex with multiple people and allowed, but there is a stigma attached to women doing the same thing? On the contrary, why is it that when a female hits a male he should be able to tolerate it, but when a male hits a female it turns into abuse? In the period of adolescence, people and society, who as a general rule decline to perceive that children have sexual reactions and capabilities, finally face the certain reality and subsequently begin to teach children their moods and benchmarks about sex. This battle of adults is entirely negative: the child is advised what not to do. While dating may be encouraged, no type of sexual movement is advocated or considered model behavior. The message most often is "be well known" (i.e. sexually tempting), but stay away from sexual movements. This anti-sexualism is particularly evident towards young women and is reinforced by references to pregnancy, venereal diseases and, above all, social contempt. In this decadence, religious families include the evil idea of premarital sexual expression. With younger kids, the double standard of ethical quality still wins. The teenager receives a twofold message: “don't do it, but we expect you will.” No such clause in the restrictions is offered to girls. Meanwhile, the young male's peer group is exerting a prosexual impact, and his social standing is enhanced by his sexual adventures or exaggerated reports of them. As a consequence of this double standard of sexual ethical quality, the relationship between... middle of paper... is of the mind towards the conduct in light of whether the target was a part of the ingroup or the outgroup. (Hackathorn & Harvey). People tend to think that there are more double standards for women than for men, but the list is endless for both genders. Typically, when a woman wants to end her marriage, she files for divorce and ends up getting about half of her husband's money because the courts are biased. Furthermore, when a woman has a low source of income or just a terrible job, all she has to do is be beautiful to find someone. If a male was in that position he would pretty much be screwed. It's crazy how the world is when it comes to these double standards and how it's okay for males to do something and vice versa. That said, should these double standards exist? Tennessee Williams once said, “The only thing worse than a liar is a liar who is also a hypocrite.”
