I graduated from Queen's University with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in History and Global Development Studies, as well as a Bachelor of Education in the Primary/Junior division. Being separated from the educational field has allowed me to recognize how fortunate I am to have my family sacrifice everything to move to Canada to ensure I have access to public education. I also realized that “public education” is not a transcendent concept in Tanzania. A large segment of Tanzania's population remains illiterate simply because they cannot afford it.
