Today's children are increasingly exposed to technology. There is currently a lot of discussion about whether or not technology is a positive element in the classroom and whether it is beneficial for students. According to McManis (2012), technology has been present in classrooms for many years now but “the development of new technologies and their presence in classrooms is increasing rapidly” (p. 1). Technology in the classroom impacts children because it can advance their knowledge and incorporate different ways of learning, or it can be used to replace the teacher. Technology can also be used to incorporate different learning tools in order to teach children with specific needs. Technology, when used effectively, can produce very positive results and present new ways of learning in the classroom. New technology used in the classroom over the past couple of years has changed the way children interact and interact with technology. Technology is no longer used as a resource for research but is integrated into the curriculum and has become a learning tool. McManis (2012), researchers found that “computer use supports and increases young children's social, cognitive, language, literacy, writing, and math skills” (p. 2). Technology allows children to work in the field and helps them research and discover topics on their own. Technology is very beneficial in the sense that it can be used in the classroom as a tool for students with different ways of learning. Research has shown that technology is a great teaching tool
