Christmas Eve celebrations are different for everyone. For example, the Mexican family “ate tamales, enchiladas, sopapillas, and pozole” (McKay 1), Mary Devitt's family “the turkey dressing was the same every year” (Tapper 1), or the pre-Christmas of Jere Armen is “celebration with food and gifts” (1). The Vietnamese Catholics in my family celebrate Christmas with many activities. To increase the Christmas atmosphere, my father and I decorate the Christmas tree together and put it in the living room. The tree is more brilliant when my father hangs colorful LED lights on the tree. After hanging the Christmas garlands and ornaments, the process of decorating the Christmas tree is completed. Both my mother and sister are the best chefs in the world, so they will cook and prepare dinner with turkey, hot soup and red wine. On Christmas Eve my family goes to church in the evening. I like going to church that day because I go with my family instead of just myself like I would most days. Then we go home and enjoy dinner, prepared first by my mother and sister. It is cold outside and the warmth that comes from food, light and the hearts of my family members is omnipresent inside. Christmas Eve is a time for family
