Book Report-Deception Point The plot is about a new NASA satellite that detects a rare object buried deep beneath the Arctic ice. The find, a 300-year-old meteorite fossil, is made public during the presidential election and this is a devastating blow to Senator Sexton who criticized NASA for mistakes throughout the campaign. The President sends Rachel Sexton, a White House intelligence analyst and Senator Sexton's daughter, along with four other ordinary scientists and a team of high-ranking NASA scientists to the Arctic to verify and confirm the authenticity of the discovery. They soon discover evidence of a fraud after a scientist is found dead under strange circumstances but before Rachel can get in touch with the president she realizes along with the others that this kind of knowledge will put them in a very dangerous situation and also the president in a very difficult position if he announces the news to the world. Fleeing for their lives through the Arctic environment they will discover what would be devastating news for the president and NASA and would plunge the world into controversy, evidence pointing to the greatest scientific fraud ever seen. Their only hope of survival now is to discover who is behind this plot and why; for what purpose, and fight for their lives against those who want to see them dead. The discoveries contained in this book could easily be compared to real discoveries, throughout history we have searched for evidence of the existence of life in the universe and we have found several meteorites throughout time. Although they are not as significant as the discovery in the book where they are found during the presidential election and with fossils on them, but today when people look into space and say our future is there; reading the book made everything even more interesting and exciting. “If this discovery is confirmed, it will surely be one of the most extraordinary insights into our universe that science has ever discovered. Its implications are as far-reaching and awe-inspiring as one can imagine. Even as it promises answers to some of our oldest questions , poses others that are even more fundamental"The language in this book can sometimes be difficult when the author uses scientific or high tech terms, or certain words you are not used to, but otherwise this book is easily read by people of the my age.
