John Wayne Gacy BiographyOne of the most horrific serial killers in modern history would have to be John Wayne Gacy, Jr. He was the second of three children and was born in 1942. He lived in Chicago and he went to Catholic schools, and wasn't a very popular kid at school. Gacy seemed to have lived a very normal childhood, with the exception of his relationship with his father and the series of incidents that befell him. No one could know what the future held for John, not even his father. When Gacy was eleven years old, he was playing on a swing and was hit in the head by one of the swings. The accident caused a blood clot in little John's brain. However, the blood clot was only discovered at the age of 16. From the ages of eleven to sixteen he suffered a series of blackouts caused by clots; when he was given the medicine, the clots disappeared along with the blackouts. At the age of seventeen, Gacy was diagnosed with a nonspecific heart disease. He was hospitalized several times due to his problem throughout his life, but they were unable to find the exact cause of his pain. However, although he complained about his heart (especially after his arrests) he never suffered a serious heart attack. During Gacy's late adolescence, he suffered some turmoil with his father, although relationships with his mother and sisters remained very strong. John's father was a violent alcoholic, who physically harmed his wife and verbally abused the children. Although John Sr. was an unpleasant individual, young Gacy loved his father deeply and desperately wanted to gain his attention and devotion. Unfortunately, he was unable to get close to his father before he died. This was something that disturbed John, Jr. for the rest of his life....... middle of paper ...... various pills, syringes, rubber vibrators, homosexual literature, as well as explicit sex were found video. The only thing Gacy was originally arrested for was possession of marijuana. Soon after his incarceration, police returned to his residence. They wanted to search his crawl space under his house. He was quick to admit that he had killed a person in self-defense and that the body had been buried under his garage. They still deemed it necessary to search the crawl space. During their search they discovered nearly 30 bodies that had been there for a varying period of time. The first murder took place in 1972, and the current year was 1976. After conviction by the authorities, Gacy was accused of the murder of 33 young people and sentenced to the death penalty. He was sent to the Menard Correctional Center, where, after years of appeals, he was killed by lethal injection.
