Maybe it was the best fruit he had ever tasted, or maybe he just imagined it because he expected it since Satan insisted it was. Eve honestly thought that she would get smarter and smarter until she became like an all-knowing God. Eve said, “Until I am nourished by you I will become ripe in knowledge, like the Gods who know all things” (Book IX, lines 803-804). Eve was completely convinced of Satan's arguments. If Adam had treated Eve more freely and cared less, Eve would not have tried to prove her faithfulness. Eve would have known how to wonder, be alone and handle every temptation that came her way. Eva would have known she was free. Satan also played an important role in making Eve eat the apple. What can we say? Satan has a very persuasive tongue and he knew how to convince Eve.
