Topic > Performance-Enhancing Drugs: A Lazy Man's Solution...

Central Idea: All performance-enhancing drugs should be banned from all sports forever.I. Performance-enhancing drugs, the world's man-made enigma of sports, come in primarily four types: anabolic steroids, masking agents, stimulants, and erythropoietin. Anabolic steroids come from the male hormone called testosterone (Performance Enhancing Drugs Education).1. Specifically, several baseball players use this “juice” to synthesize proteins in their body, which ultimately results in increased muscle strength and size (Performance Enhancing Drugs Education). What many athletes completely lose focus on are the multiple effects that can occur in their body, some such as body hair growth, baldness, acne, and high blood pressure (Performance Enhancing Drug Education). B. Masking agents are now another illegal drug smuggled by professional athletes. Diuretics, epitestosterone, probenecid, alpha-ruductase inhibitors, and plasma volume expanders are the four "agents" as they all work to serve one primary purpose, which is to hide evidence in a person's body of anabolic steroid use or “juices” ” (Performance Enhancing Drug Education).2. None of the masking agents should be used by anyone due to the terrible consequences it can cause such as heart arrhythmias, kidney stones, fever, muscle cramps and much more (Education on performance-enhancing drugs).C. Stimulants, energy drinks, live like another contraband PED.1. Although the US Food and Drug Administration has banned their use, many lazy athletes use them to give them energy and strength to get through a long season (Performance...... middle of paper......
