This is essential to convince more audiences with different backgrounds to believe in the same ideals as me. For example, I had a clear understanding that addressing the black community with my persuasive essay would have to be very different than how I addressed the white veteran population in America. The two groups have different backgrounds and beliefs, so I have learned to bridge the gap between them by establishing common ground through my voice and tone. This is just a small example of something I learned from the persuasive essay. As previously stated, there were a lot of things I learned this semester from this course, which was honestly unexpected considering I've technically already taken a college-level writing course. class in high school. However, I was surprised to discover how little I knew about writing, particularly my approach to persuasion. The approaches I was forced to take in writing my essays in this course taught the importance of consistency in voice and tone, as well as ensuring that there is a direct correlation between the two and what I am attempting to argue in my
