Should there be the death penalty or not? This is something the company doesn't have a clear answer on. Most people around the world support the death penalty, but others want it abolished. There are also people who support the death penalty, but only in the most serious cases. What I think about the death penalty is that only some crimes should be punished with the death penalty. I think people who commit crimes because they wanted to should be punished. People who are in favor of the death penalty say that the death penalty will ensure that other people who are thinking of committing murder, or any other crime, will not commit that act. I don't believe it because when someone wants to commit a crime, they don't think about what will happen to them afterwards. The person who committed a crime will probably think they can get away with it, so that person doesn't think they will get the death penalty. The death penalty is the most critical warning against all crimes. Criminals who do their homework know this. For example, a person might enter a house or shop and rob the place, but has no intention of killing anyone. Because they know that if they were to kill a couple of people, they would probably end up on death row. But then again, does the person who committed the crime actually think about it while they are committing the act? Most people who support the death penalty are loved ones of someone they lost to a crime. Because the person killed no longer has a say in the matter, obviously. But the family does, and usually wants the most beneficial punishment to be meted out to the person who committed the crime. If the criminal doesn't get the kind of verdict from the judge that he wanted, he will continue to fight... middle of paper... sentenced to death because I don't think he can really think about what they did every single day. I feel like that person killed someone, so we have to kill him because that person doesn't deserve to be here. I don't think this is justice at all. I would like a criminal to stay in prison for the rest of his life and think about what he did. I think they have the death penalty, so people who are thinking about committing a crime that will land them in prison won't commit the crime. But these crimes still happen every day, so I don't think the death penalty is effective at all. In 2012 the homicide rate in the United States was 4.8 victims per 100,000, meaning that approximately 15,000 people were victims of homicide that year. So, the death penalty doesn't seem to really stop people from committing these crimes, so what is the purpose of the death penalty??
