I have always believed that curiosity has been the foundation of humanity's evolution. Since my childhood, my curiosity and hunger for knowledge have been ever-increasing. In this ever-changing world driven by advancements in engineering and technology, the role of a mechanical engineer is critical. I have always wanted to play an effective role in this thriving field of mechanical engineering as I have been fascinated by machines and wonder why technology is constantly evolving and one has to adapt to its changes to live life in the fast lane. I liked to meddle with things like my toys as well as things that weren't supposed to be toys like desk clocks, television remote control, radio etc. Taking them apart and examining them was a habit for which I was regularly scolded by my parents, due to the fact that it often led to its obliteration. I have always liked analyzing and understanding how cars work, starting from experimenting on my toys to repairing my bicycle. I perceived “Mechanical Engineering” as the only way to reward my quest for knowledge and contribute. My educational pursuit and inclination towards applied sciences led me to devote myself to physics, chemistry and mathematics in my upper secondary education. After completing my secondary education, I sensed that engineering would be the area that would give me the opportunity to learn and explore how scientific principles and theories are applied to create technology for practical, real-world purposes. Furthermore, my inherent strengths have always been creative abilities and the power of imagination; which pushed me to undertake a discipline that would allow me to better hone my skills. Therefore… halfway through the paper… the program in “Mechanical Engineering” of your esteemed university offers superlative facilities for research and a competent faculty. Your university with its unique graduate program in Mechanical Engineering and with its allegiance to cultivating intellectual excellence is striking and attractive for pursuing an academic career. This program would allow me to venture into multiple disciplinary fields and also nurture a strong sense of independence combined with responsibility and self-confidence, a characteristic of American culture. It would also create awareness of the global competition in this field and help me learn global standards, which I believe would be of great help for me to make a strong contribution in the field of mechanical engineering. I sincerely hope that you will share my concept of trust by accepting me into your esteemed institution.
