The representative wanted to talk about the benefits of using a particular seizure medication. In our Healthcare and Pharmacy Behavior course, this is known as the traditional method of supplier marketing. Pharmaceutical companies use marketing strategies towards healthcare professionals to promote their drugs, which influences how the drugs are prescribed to patients. The drug representative went on to discuss giving customers a coupon for the drug. This coupon would allow customers to receive a one-month supply of the drug. My pharmacist had some concerns about using coupons. One of the concerns was what would happen to customers when they were unable to afford a refill, and in Healthcare and Pharmacy Behavior, one of the factors that goes into prescribing a drug to a customer is price. Another concern was that the process of using the coupons was inconvenient for the pharmacy itself. In the end, my pharmacist didn't think it would be beneficial for customers or the pharmacy to use coupons. Wal-Mart strives to provide the highest quality service, with the highest integrity and at the lowest prices possible. Wal-Mart Pharmacy looks to its customers to ensure that they feel comfortable receiving and using their medications.
