Kill a Nigger Lover Over the Hedge In this essay you will be informed about Jean Louise Finch, or otherwise known as Scout, after reading this essay you will make him understand his physical description, conflicts, courage and emotional moments discussed in the book "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. Scout is just a straight forward, simple guy. She wears dirty, very scruffy overalls, has bangs and, like most tomboys, hates wearing dresses. This was just to talk a little about her physically, you will find more about her behavior by reading the following paragraphs. There are moments in this book that show conflict between Scout and other characters. An example of conflict is between Scout and Cecil Jacob, a classmate. This conflict concerns his father, Atticus, Cecil said that Atticus was a lover of niggers. The same conflict came up again, but this time it was between Scout and Francis, her cousin, regarding her father, Atticus, being a lover of niggers, this conflict started on page 83-86. A portion of this is given below (page 86):'"What did Francis [Atticus] call him?"."A lover of niggers...."'Another conflict was with an old lady, Mrs. Dubose, this conflict was started by Mrs. Dubose, she had started this problem because she had been annoying Scout for no reason, Scout hated her, this hatred is shown on page 99. It is stated below:'"Jem and I hated her[Mrs. Dubose].”'So after Scout discovered the reason why Mrs. Dubose was always irritable, the reason was that she was sick and taking morphine. Scout is also an extremely courageous character. Since I told you about Cecil Jacobs' conflict you might think, "What an idiot!!" Scout does too and wants to make him eat a knuckle sandwich! The amazing and courageous part is that she has never given up fighting in her life, but now she does so because Atticus told her not to listen and, above all, not to react. So she is not reacting because of her love for Atticus but is taking the hit, letting them call her and her father names. I call this being a courageous human being. This drama is shown on pages 75-77. I took an example from pages 76-77:'"Will you take it back, boy [Cecil Jacobs]?"'"You must make me first!' .... "My parents say...." I pointed my finger at him, remembered what Atticus had said, then put my fists down and walked away, "Scout is a coward!" ringing in my ears.' This character, Scout, also shows some emotional moments. If you remember the paragraph above, the scene where Scout fights her cousin, Francis, for Atticus. Also in the paragraph above it says that Scout didn't fight Cecil and took the hit, I mean being insulted, for her father Atticus out of love, this shows her emotions for her father. Another example is when Arthur Radley, also known as Boo, finally leaves the house when he sees Bob Ewell approaching Scout and her brother, Jem, and Bob Ewell tries to kill them but Boo Radley saves the children by killing Bob. Well. During all this confusion in the dark, it's night, Jem badly breaks his arm, so Boo, seemingly shy and sensitive, takes Jem back to their house. After the doctor and sheriff leave the house, Boo asks Scout to take him home, which she does, then for the second time Scout is on Radley's porch and for once she is in Boo Radley's shoes and now he knows why he isn't coming. outside, he doesn't want to, here too he shows emotion, understanding and friendship. This incident is found on pages 260-279. On pages 278-279 Scout takes Boo to his house: "Will you take me home?" ....... Atticus was right. He once said that you never really know a man until you put yourself in his shoes and go.
