The “giving birth in beauty” begins with two forms (206B). We can be pregnant in body or soul. When you want to get pregnant with beauty, in the body, you look for a companion who is good and wise. Then you can become pregnant in the body and give birth to a child and become immortal leaving your children behind when you die. Being pregnant in the soul can happen when you have moderation and justice. This means having the right order in your home. When a guy, especially, becomes pregnant in the soul, he is attracted to beautiful bodies and attracted to beautiful souls. Being around beautiful souls makes him “swarm with ideas and arguments about virtue” (209C).
