Teen Sex Sexually active teens in America are a significant problem that we need to pay attention to. One question that resonates in the minds of teenagers around the world is when to have sex. Our Catholic teachings teach us to wait until one is in a loving marriage to have sex. Not only does the church preach abstinence, but public schools now teach students the benefits of abstinence. Premarital sex is a growing and important issue. Premarital sex is usually the cause of sexually transmitted diseases, teenage pregnancies, and deep feelings of remorse. STDs thrive in a society of premarital sex, where adolescents have many sexual partners. A direct consequence of this is that sexually transmitted diseases are becoming more abundant among the population. One of the reasons for the scourge of sexually transmitted diseases is the improper use of contraceptives by adolescents. Many teenagers believe that condoms or the pill prohibit the spread of herpes, AIDS or other diseases, but in reality they do not stop the spread and nowhere do the products claim that they stop the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Three million new cases of sexually transmitted diseases among adolescents are reported each year. Many teenagers who believe that there is nothing wrong with having premarital sex have relationships with many different teenagers between the ages of 15 and 19 and each time increase the possibility of spreading sexually transmitted diseases. With the rise of sexual intercourse among high school students and its acceptance among the public, even more teenagers are having sex now, to the point that every eleven seconds a teenager is having sex for the first time. Seventy percent of these students say they were socially forced to have sex. If society has the power to pressure teenagers to have sex, it should use that power to educate couples about the dangers of premarital sex. Sex before marriage has also been a leading cause of teenage pregnancy. Teens often think that pregnancy can't happen to them, yet teen pregnancy grows every year and shows no setback. Inattention is the significant factor in teenage pregnancies, whether the inattention concerns the use of contraceptives or choosing a partner. Teens simply use different forms of contraceptives and birth control incorrectly.
